The Good
Changes Process

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is “homework” ?

After most sessions you will be assigned “homework” to help you identify what steps you need to take on the Good Changes journey.  These are not the same for everyone.  The Change for Good process is a marathon, not a sprint.  If you find the work between sessions to be too hard to do, we can tinker with the work between sessions until we find some change that is possible for you. Homework helps you change - for good.

  • What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is bringing awareness to daily life, usually through daily meditation, so that you can be more present, peaceful and connected to yourself and others. There are many different types of meditation that can help people with this process.

  • What is solution focused treatment?

Solution-focused treatment encourages positive and hopeful attitudes towards difficult situations and moral dilemmas that allows you a new outlook and motivation to change lifestyles and attitudes that are not aligned with your true values.

  • What is a collaborative approach?

At Good Changes, we believe you are in charge of changing and you know yourself best.  It is unethical to try to prompt you to change in ways that you do not want or that your body would not be capable of.  We want to help you know and accept and like yourself as you actually are--so that you can behave in ways that help you continue to be the best person you actually are.  You are the expert on you.

  • What is the cost?

All new clients require an intake appointment which lasts 60 minutes and costs $250.  If we find that this type of collaborative treatment works for you, you can email me what works and we will set up another appointment for $200.

  • Can I use my insurance?

If you live in Massachusetts, you may be eligible to see a partial reimbursement for your appointment through your insurance.  But for most people, you will need to pay out of pocket.  The rate is  $200 for ongoing appointments.

  • How would we have our appointment?

All appointments take place on a telehealth platform called Simple Practice.  If you want to set up a meeting, you would click the link for the appointment and find a time that works for you.  You'd then be prompted to fill out a form to see if we would be a good fit.
